Crypto Regulations (Global Overview)

Crypto regulation is the patchwork of national laws deciding how digital assets are classified, taxed and traded.

In depth

Approaches range from comprehensive frameworks (the EU’s MiCA) to licensing regimes, to outright bans. Most jurisdictions now require exchanges to register, verify customers and report suspicious activity. India treats crypto as Virtual Digital Assets: legal to hold and trade, taxed, and overseen by FIU-IND for anti-money-laundering purposes.

Why it matters

Regulation determines which platforms can operate legally and what protections you have.
