Crypto Wallets
A crypto wallet is software or hardware that stores your keys and lets you sign transactions; the coins themselves stay on the blockchain.
In depth
Despite the name, a wallet holds no coins β it holds the private keys that prove ownership of coins recorded on the ledger. Losing the wallet does not lose the coins if you still have the keys; losing the keys loses everything even if the app is fine. Wallets come as mobile apps, browser extensions, desktop programs and physical devices.
Why it matters
Choosing and securing a wallet is the first practical decision every crypto user makes.
