Private key management is the set of practices for generating, storing and backing up the keys that control your funds.

Keys should be generated on a trusted device, never typed into websites and backed up offline in more than one location. Anyone who obtains the key — through a screenshot, a cloud backup or a phishing site — has full, irreversible control. Good management balances safety from theft with safety from your own loss.
