Metadata & Tokenization
Tokenization is representing an asset as a blockchain token; metadata is the descriptive data (name, image, attributes) attached to that token.
In depth
A token on-chain is just an ID and an owner. Metadata β often a JSON file stored on IPFS or a server β tells wallets what the token depicts and its properties. Tokenising stocks, bonds or real estate follows the same pattern, with legal wrappers linking the token to the real asset.
Why it matters
Where metadata is stored determines whether an NFT or tokenised asset is durable or fragile.
